Lorena's Clothes Closet! Excepting Donations Now!

About a year ago, I had a burning desire to start collecting clothes for a clothes closet. It was prettying easy since my thrift shopping addiction was at an all time high. I wasn't sure what kind of clothes closet I was supposed to have, and lets be honest every local church and nonprofit agency has a clothes closet now a day.

It wasn't until months later when I was asked to come speak at Attack Addition, a residential home that housed women struggling with overcoming addiction. After speaking with the women about my own personal struggles with overcoming addiction I was asked to come back and host a bible study class with some of the ladies. I gladly returned every Thursday at 7pm.

During one of our bible study session one of the lady came down the stairs and said she was on her way to a job interview. She had on a pair of black pants and a purple blouse. She was very appropriate for the interview. After a brief conversation with her about interview questions and answers she began to complain about what she would wear to the second interview if she did well on the first. That’s when it hit me!

I said I happened to have some clothes I’ve been collecting and I could bring some back for her interview the next day. When I returned the next day I was so moved by how grateful she was for the clothes. She loved the outfits I chose. I then agreed to dress all the ladies for their interviews.

The confidence she felt uplifted her spirit and gave her hope. It’s true, when you look good, you feel good.

Give God a YES, and he will do the Rest!

DelawareBlack.com

Okay, how do I begin? I'm still floating and giving God all the praises for my Win at the Delaware Black Awards for Best Blogger/Journalist. I didn't expect the nomination and then to actually win... Well that was just the icing on the cake!

The day I received the message, well inbox I was nominated I was in total shock. I receive countless messages in my inbox daily so I wasn't sure if it was legit or not. I reluctantly contacted the number that was provided in the message, and a lady answered the phone,

"Lorena I'm so glad you called, you were nominated for Delaware Black Awards Best Blogger/ Journalist."

Feeling shocked I said,

"Really, How? Who nominated me?"

She didn’t say who nominated me, because she didn't know. We ended the call with me fighting back tears of joy. See, it was bigger than just winning; it was the fact I was recognized and appreciated by my peers, friends and family. I had no idea my writings and videos had touched so many people.

I had gone through one of the toughest times n my life in 2014. During that valley experience I asked God if I would make it out of the mess I found myself in, God spoke to me and said, "If you give me a YES I will keep you in total peace."

Well, at that time I didn't realize what peace really was. Until that moment I thought peace was the same thing as happiness. I soon learn happiness was only based off what was currently happening in our lives. Later, when I felt joy.... it was like wow! Totally unexplainable, and an overwhelming feeling I just had to share it.

Through my joy was birthed The Lorena Experience

I stand today humbled, honored, stronger, sober, and vigilant! I've birthed Lorena Social Media, and a host of other brands such as my Fashion on a Dime , and Ground Zero The Movement
