About a year ago, I had a burning desire to start
collecting clothes for a clothes closet. It was prettying easy since my thrift
shopping addiction was at an all time high. I wasn't sure what kind of clothes
closet I was supposed to have, and lets be honest every local church and
nonprofit agency has a clothes closet now a day.
It wasn't until months later when I was asked to come speak at Attack
Addition, a residential home that housed women struggling with overcoming
addiction. After speaking with the women about my own personal struggles with
overcoming addiction I was asked to come back and host a bible study class with
some of the ladies. I gladly returned every Thursday at 7pm.
During one of our bible study session one of the lady came down the
stairs and said she was on her way to a job interview. She had on a pair of
black pants and a purple blouse. She was very appropriate for the interview. After
a brief conversation with her about interview questions and answers she began
to complain about what she would wear to the second interview if she did well
on the first. That’s when it hit me!
I said I happened to have some clothes I’ve been collecting and I could
bring some back for her interview the next day. When I returned the next day I
was so moved by how grateful she was for the clothes. She loved the outfits I
chose. I then agreed to dress all the ladies for their interviews.
The confidence she felt uplifted her spirit and gave her hope. It’s
true, when you look good, you feel good.
